Stony Brook, N.Y. - Freshman Kevin Krause (Staten Island, N.Y.) collected three hits and freshman Cole Peragine(Belle Ewart, Ontario) added two hits and two RBI to lead the Stony Brook baseball team to a 10-3 victory over the Iona Gaels on Tuesday at Joe Nathan Field.

Junior Tanner Nivins (Kitchener, Ontario) and sophomore Anthony Italiano (Sayville, N.Y.) chipped in with two hits apiece for Stony Brook. Junior Jasvir Rakkar(Brampton, Ontario) tossed 2.0 innings out of the bullpen to earn the victory.

Stony Brook (20-9) jumped to a 1-0 lead on a Krause RBI single in the first. Iona (11-20) briefly took the lead on a Colin Lyall two-run home run in the fourth but the Seawolves responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning highlighted by a two-run bases-loaded single from Peragine.

The Seawolves then put the game away with five runs in the sixth. Italiano and freshman Michael Roehrig(Lindenhurst, N.Y.) each had RBI singles in the inning.

Sophomore Frankie Vanderka (Levittown, N.Y.) started for Stony Brook and allowed just one hit in 3.0 shutout innings. Junior G.C. Yerry(West Shokan, N.Y.) also allowed just one hit in 3.0 scoreless innings of relief.

The Seawolves return to action on Wednesday, hosting Marist at Joe Nathan Field.
