Dan Luisi has joined the Stony Brook staff as volunteer assistant coach for the 2014 season. Luisi comes to the Seawolves after two seasons as an assistant at his alma mater Post University, where he played for the Eagles from 2007-10. Luisi will work with the #Seawolves outfielders for defense and work with the whole team on hitting.
"Stony Brook is a great program with a great coaching staff," Luisi said. "I am excited to contribute to the winning tradition here. The players have worked extremely hard throughout the fall, and we look forward to competing in the spring."
Prior to Stony Brook, Luisi served as the hitting and defense coach at Post for the 2012-13 seasons. During his two years, the Eagles offense went from last in the conference to third, and six players went on to sign professional contracts.
Luisi made his coaching debut at Farmingdale State College in 2011, and his duties on the Rams staff included hitting and defense. That spring the Rams won the Skyline Conference and qualified for the New York State Regional. Farmingdale State was ranked second in New York State, according to the NCAA Division III rankings.
