Stony Brook, N.Y. - Stony Brook's cross country teams will head to New England to compete in the America East Championships at the University of New Hampshire. The women's team is in search of its sixth straight conference title, while the men will look to win its first.

Junior Olivia Burne (Palmerston North, New Zealand) leads a talented corps of experienced athletes. "I think Olivia has a shot at becoming our sixth individual winner in the last 10 years," coach Andy Ronan said. "The team will strive to make it six in a row, but will have to survive the strong challenge which New Hampshire and Vermont will throw at them.

The men's team, led by sophomore Eric Speakman (Napier, New Zealand), is in search of its first team title. From 2006-09, the Seawolves finished no lower than third, helped by Alex Felce and Tim Hodge, who captured the titles in 2007 and 2008, respectively.

"I feel the guys have a great opportunity to move back into the top three," Ronan said. "After falling short of that goal over the last couple of conference championships, we're in good shape."

The men's race is scheduled to get underway at 10 a.m. followed by the women an hour later.
