West Hartford, Conn. - Steve Walsh has been named head cross country and track & field coach at the University of Hartford, the school announced on Tuesday. Walsh served as an assistant coach at Stony Brook for the past four years.

"I would like to thank Steve for all his hard work over the last four years," head coach Andy Ronan said. His efforts have and will ensure that the Stony Brook University men's and women's track program will continue to be competitive. The University of Hartford is getting a young hard-working coach, who I have no doubt will do a great job."

During his time at Stony Brook, Walsh worked with the Seawolves cross country, distance and middle-distance athletes, developing and implementing training exercises.

Walsh was instrumental in the development of All-Americans in indoor and outdoor track, including Lucy Van Dalen, the 2012 champion in the indoor mile. The women's cross country team finished seventh in the 2010 National Championships.

He was a member of the America East Cross Country Staff of the Year over the last four years. Under his tutelage, three student-athletes won individual cross country titles and 19 individuals captured a total of 19 indoor and outdoor track titles.
