Buffalo, N.Y. - Senior Hayley Green (Wellington, New Zealand) qualified for the NCAA Championships after a fourth-place finish at the Northeast Regional on Saturday.
Green placed fourth in a time of 20:42.5 in the 6K race. "Hayley had a great run," head coach Andy Ronan said. "She will head to the National Championships, where she'll have a goal of earning All-American."
The women's team finished ninth out of 40 teams. "We're disappointed with the team finish," Ronan said. Our goal was top five, but it's the fifth year in a row that we finished in the top 10 at the regional championships."
Senior Patricia Barry (Tipperary, Ireland) took 23rd (21:27.1), junior Annie Keown (Auckland, New Zealand) finished 40th (21:49.5) and sophomore Olivia Burne (Palmerston North, New Zealand) placed 44th (21:55.1) to pace the women's squad.
Sophomore Eric Speakman (Napier, New Zealand) continued his strong season, finishing 25th (32:13.2). "Eric had a real nice run today," Ronan said. "He gained some valuable experience going forward."
The men's team finished 24th out of 39 teams in windy conditions.
Speakman and Barry earned All-Region honors with their respective finishes.
The NCAA Championships will be held on Monday, November 21 on the campus of Indiana State University.
