#Seawolves impress at Wolfie Invitational

Stony Brook, N.Y. – Junior Chris Hand triumphed in the hammer throw and met an IC4A standard with a 53.03-meter toss, while sophomore Allyson Laporte broke a school record in the javelin with a 40.99-meter throw to headline a successful day at the Wolfie Invitational for the Stony Brook men’s and women’s track and field programs.
LaPorte topped her own mark of 39.86 established at last year’s Wolfie Invite.
Tyler Keys won the 1,500-meters in a personal-best 3:55.82, and James Snak placed third in 3:57.41. Gabriel Vazquez and Sam Kimmey finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in times of 4:05.47 and 4:06.99.
Nicholas Lemon was the winner of the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:52.90.
Robert Taylor tallied a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash in 50.42 seconds and third in the 200-meter dash in 22.76 seconds.
Amazan, Snak, Lopresti and Peter Sander teamed up for a second-place result in the 4x400 relay in 3:24.99.
Adam Davies claimed first in the long jump on a 6.10-meter jump, and Christian Hadigeorgiou placed third in 5.91-meters. Chris Drury was fifth in the javelin (47.45-meters) and sixth in the discus (35.72-meters).
For the women, Christina Melian and Olivia Ritchie placed first and second, respectively, in the 1,500-meter run in times of 4:35.43 and 4:39.29. Ritchie’s time was the best of the season for the freshman.
Lorraine McCarthy was the winner of the 5,000-meters in 18:07.01.
Robin Lynn secured third in the 800-meters in 2:16.06.
Elizabeth Caldwell was second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 10:58.02.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Daneen Small, Cali Peffer, Megan Liu and Kathryn Mazzucca finished sixth in 51.39 ticks. Peffer, Liu, Megan Fielder and Small placed sixth in the 4x400-meter relay in 4:17.89.
Liu was third in the long jump on a 5.03-meter leap.
The Seawolves men finished second with 119 points, while the women were fourth with 66 points.
Stony Brook begins a two-day stint at the Penn Relays April 24.
