Williamsburg, Va. – Senior Olivia Burne claimed top honors in the women’s 1,500-meter run Friday as the Stony Brook men’s and women’s track and field teams competed at the Colonial Relays hosted by William & Mary.

The reigning America East champion in the event tallied an ECAC-qualifying time of 4:22.98 to beat second-place Shannon Morton of Virginia Tech by nearly two seconds.

Sophomore Christina Melian came in sixth and qualified for the ECACs in the 5,000-meters in 16:34.35.

Freshman Brittany Spoto logged a 39.54-meter throw in the javelin championship and placed seventh.

Junior Chris Hand placed sixth in the men’s hammer throw with a 48.70-meter heave.

Sophomore Alex Lopresti was second in the 800-meters in 1:54.62, and senior James Snak secured eighth in the 1,500-meter run in 4:02.64.  

Stony Brook continues at the Colonial Relays Saturday at 9 a.m.
