#Seawolves shine in distance events at Gotham Cup

Senior Robin Lynn helped the Seawolves claim first in the women's distance medley relay

NEW YORK - The Stony Brook men's and women's track and field teams captured top honors in both the men's and women's distance medley relays in the Gotham Cup Friday at the Armory.

The men's team consisting of seniors James Snak and Matt Granata, sophomore Bradley Amazan and junior Daniel Denis clocked in at 10:19.36 to edge Princeton by a little more than one second. The Tigers finished second in 10:20.25.

Juniors Kate Pouder and Danielle Cornell, senior Robin Lynn and freshman Elizabeth Caldwell teamed up to dominate the women's event. The squad used a time of 12:38.32 to handedly beat Stevens Institute, which crossed the line in 12:52.39. Fairleigh Dickinson came in third in 12:54.75.

Denis placed fourth in the men's mile in 4:15.81, and sophomore Mitchell Kun was fifth in the men's 3,000-meter run in a personal-best time of 8:38.54.

Stony Brook will be back in the city next weekend to compete in the NYU Team Challenge Saturday, Jan. 18.
