Stony Brook, N.Y. - Stony Brook head men's lacrosse coach Jim Nagle announced a trio of seniors as team captains for the upcoming 2017 season. Jeff Reh (Sound Beach, N.Y.), Alex Corpolongo (Purdys, N.Y.) and Ryan Bitzer (Riverhead, N.Y.) will have the honor of leading the Seawolves into battle when they open their season next spring.

"We are very confident in our three captains' ability to lead our program for the 2017 season," said Nagle. "They are outstanding young men who exemplify the high standards Stony Brook men's lacrosse has set in the classroom, within the Stony Brook community, and on the playing field."

Reh, a two-time first team all-conference selection as a short stick midfielder, enjoyed his best offensive season in 2016 with nine goals and five assists. He was also a dependable defender, causing 11 turnovers and registering 37 ground balls.

Corpolongo, a proven goal scorer with a heavy shot, tallied a career-high 36 goals in 2016 en route to first team all-conference honors. A two-time member of the All-Academic Team, Corpolongo has tallied 63 career goals and needs 31 in his senior season to crack the top 10 on the Stony Brook career goals list.

Bitzer had a breakout junior season with career-highs in goals (23) and assists (18). The athletic attackman should see another increase in production as he will feature heavily in the Stony Brook offense in his senior campaign.

Stony Brook finished 12-4 in 2016 and is 25-9 over its last two seasons.
