STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Stony Brook head women's lacrosse coach Joe Spallina has announced the addition of transfer Carolyn Carrera for the 2017 season.
 
Carrera joins the Seawolves for her junior campaign after spending her first two seasons at cross-island foe Hofstra. The Riverhead, New York, native played in all 33 games from 2015-16 for the Pride, tallying 66 draw controls, 31 ground balls, 17 caused turnovers and two goals. Carrera's 3.44 draw controls/game in 2016 led the CAA.
 
"Carolyn is a dynamic two-way midfielder that has also had great success taking draws," said Spallina. "She has great experience and we think she will make a great impact in the red, white and blue."
 
Carrera was also a goalie on the Hofstra women's soccer team during her time in Hempstead. In her high school lacrosse days at Riverhead High School, she recorded 173 goals, 69 assists and 386 draw controls and was the 2013 New York Wendy's High School Heisman Award winner. Carrera will wear No. 1 for the Seawolves.
