West Point, N.Y. – Stony Brook traveled to Army this weekend for the Army Shootout. The Seawolves competed against Army, Bryant, and Sacred Heart.
"All fall this team has continued to surpass my expectations for each match. This weekend we faced some very tough competition with two teams having won their conference tournaments this past year. We had a number of quality wins by our guys which made for a great weekend. Tyler had arguably the best weekend by going undefeated in singles and doubles," said Assistant Coach DJ Willson.
Highlights:
- Senior Tyler Hoffman (Sayville, N.Y.) was perfect on the weekend winning both singles matches and all three doubles matches that he competed in.
- Hoffman took down Plutt of Bryant 7-5, 6-1 then Nguyen of Army 7-6, 6-2.
- In doubles Hoffman and partner Hadlich beat Jakubowski and Lorenz of Bryant 8-7, Riechmann and Nguyen of Army 7-6, and Seltman and Hosokawa of Sacred Heart 8-2.
- Sophomore Samuel Taieb (Triel-Sur-Seine, France) and Junior Richie Agarwal (Kolkata, India) beat Sacred Heart's Hosokawa and Surprenant 8-2.
- Senior Hari Rohan and Junior Justin Park beat Sause and Santino of Sacred Heart 8-5.
- Rodrigo Hadlich (Balneario Camboriu, Brazil) beat Seltman of Sacred Heart 6-4, 6-7, 10-2.
- Taieb and Morhan beat Plutt and J. Ortiz of Bryant 8-5.
- Agarwal beat Lualsa of Bryant 3-6, 6-3, 10-7.
- Taieb took down Hosokowa of Sacred Heart 6-3, 6-4.
- Park beat Sause of Sacred Heart 6-2, 6-3.
- Freshman Ruben Morhain (Deland, Fla.) took down Surprenant of Sacred Heart 6-1, 7-5.
- Rohan beat Voigt of Army 6-1, 6-2.
