Rachael Lyall was named Assistant Athletics Director for Business Operations and Administration in July of 2010. In this role she assists in the creation and management of the department operating budget and assists in Human Resource management which includes personnel related issues, search and hiring processes, as well as, performance reviews for all coaches and staff, and ensuring compliance with all state, university and union guidelines.
In addition she is responsible for day to day oversight of the Office of Business Operations, Summer Camp Operations and athletic merchandising division.
She first joined the Stony Brook Department of Athletics in August of 2007 as the Coordinator of Business Operations where she was responsible for revenue collections and expenditures for 20 varsity programs and 7 support areas. Additional responsibilities included department merchandise operations, creating and distributing monthly budget reports to head coaches and department supervisors, assist in preparation of the annual audit and processing of equipment and service contract purchases.
Lyall came to Stony Brook from the America East Conference office where she worked for two years. She started there as the conference Business Manager/Assistant to the Commissioner before moving into the role of Assistant Director of Championships and Sports Administration. Among her duties was responsibility of daily budget oversight, management and monitoring of conference funds, National Letter of Intent Coordination and the oversight of various conference sponsored sports and championships.
A 2005 Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Maine with a BS in business administration, Lyall was a four-year letter-winner for the Black Bears in field hockey. A two-time All-America East selection, she was a Maine Scholar Athlete Gold Medalist and was named to the America East Commissioner's Honor Roll. A native of Hereford, Pennsylvania, Lyall attended Upper Perkiomen High School where she lettered in field hockey, basketball, softball and lacrosse.
She continued her education at Stony Brook, earning her Masters in Business Administration in 2010 while serving as the Coordinator of Business Operations in the Athletic Department.
Rachael and her husband, Cameron, live in North Babylon with their children, Carter and Blake.
