Jake Gibson was named the Manager of Arena Operations in September 2013. Gibsonserves as the main point of contact for all operations associated with the daily management of Stony Brook Arena, scheduled to open in Fall 2014. Among the responsibilities are directing and coordinating all operations and staffing and executing all functions in support of events and contests that take place there.

Gibson has worked at Stony Brook since August 2011, previously serving in the role of graduate assistant for faciltiies and event operations. He managed the day-to-day operation of all of Stony Brook's athletic facilities, served as a liaison between the department and contracted vendors, University Police, campus mainenance and security and coordinated operations for gameday events both for intercollegiate sports and external, revenue-generating events. He also managed event and facility budgets and assisted in equipment maintenance, that included audio/visual servicing and event troubleshooting.

Gibson's service has been recognized by the University. He was honored with the Stony Brook Outstanding Service award for his help during Hurricane Sandy relief efforts in 2012.

Prior to joining Stony Brook, Gibson spent one year as the Facility Manager and Director of Lacrosse Operations at the River City Sports Arena in Louisville, Ky., where he managed all aspects of the facility's operation, including budget, turf and equipment. He coordinated programs and schedules for lacrosse, including leagues, practicies, camps and private lessons.

Gibson also has experience working as a marketing/operations intern with the New York Lizards, as a football operations intern with SUNY Maritime and as a rink director at State Wars Hockey.

Gibson earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Administration from the University of Louisville and holds his Master of Business Administration degree from Stony Brook.
