Adam Gutes joined the Stony Brook athletics staff in 2006 as assistant director of athletic communications. Gutes is the main contact for football, cross country, track and field and men's lacrosse.
Gutes has been at the forefront of media relations efforts for a football team that has won three consecutive Big South championships. During the football team's run to the 2011 NCAA Div. I Football Championship, he oversaw the program's most comprehensive media blitz that included daily articles in Newsday for nearly two weeks.
Gutes also headed up media efforts for Lucy Van Dalen, arguably Stony Brook's most decorated student-athlete and the school's first-ever national champion.
Prior to Stony Brook, Gutes served as Director of Media Relations for the Augusta GreenJackets, a single-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants in 2005. While with the GreenJackets, Gutes was responsible for issuing press releases and game stories, statistics and team merchandising. Gutes also served as the team's Official Scorer.
He also spent a season with the Baltimore BayRunners of the International Basketball League. While with the BayRunners, Gutes compiled game notes and press releases.
Gutes is a 2001 graduate of Towson University with a degree in Sport Management with a minor in Business Administration. While at Towson, Gutes served as a manager for the men's basketball team from 1999-2001.
