Clare Faurote is in her sixth year at Stony Brook Athletics and her third as an Academic Advisor in the Student-Athlete Development department. She previously served as a Business Administration Assistant from September 2008 to October 2010.
Faurote assists in the development, assessment and implementation of the academic advising services offered to all Stony Brook student-athletes and assists in the coordination of the tutorial program, which includes hiring and training tutors, scheduling tutorial sessions and evaluating performance. In addition, she creates and implements plans of action for academically at-risk student-athletes to assist in their academic success.
Faurote also collaborates with head coaches, administrators and athletic communications staff to collect and disseminate academic information to the NCAA and conference offices for awards and records.
Prior to serving as an academic advisor, Faurote worked in the business office, where she coordinated all aspects of human resources for the department, including managing the hiring process, implementing new staff orientation and development, tracking performance programs and performance evaluations and ensuring department compliance.
Before arriving at Stony Brook, Faurote was a member of the Fairfield University Women's Basketball team, serving as graduate assistant coach in 2006-07 before being promoted to director of basketball operations in July 2007. Among her responsiblities, she coordinated and maintained practice and activity schedules, organized and distributed mailings for film exchange, assisted in budget preparation, managed campus recruiting visits and tours, purchased team gear and equipment and assisted in directing summer basketball camps.
Faurote played college basketball at Fairfield from 2002-06, captaining the Stags her senior year. She was named to the MAAC All-Academic team in 2006. Faurote graduated from Fairfield with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing in 2006 and then earned her MBA from Fairfield in 2009.
