Football and men's hoops to air on Champions Radio 96.9, 107.1 FM

Champions RadioStony Brook, N.Y. - Stony Brook Athletics has found a new commercial radio home for Seawolves football and men’s basketball. Stony Brook has partnered with Champions Radio, Long Island’s first and only 24/7 sports radio station, to deliver all 2013 Seawolves football games and a minimum of 18 Seawolves men’s basketball games in 2013-14. The games will be carried on 96.9 FM and 107.1 FM across Suffolk County and online at

Champions Radio, which launched on Aug. 5, will air its first Seawolves Athletics contest this Saturday, Sept. 7 when the football team plays at the University of Rhode Island at 1 p.m., with Mike Solano (play-by-play) and Curt Hylton (color) on the call. In addition to Seawolves Football and Men’s Basketball, Champions Radio airs The Morning Drive with Rich & Rob from 7-10 a.m., ESPN Radio programming from 10 a.m. to midnight, and simulcasts of ESPN New York’s game coverage of the Jets, Knicks and Rangers, which previously was not available to the East End of Long Island.

The partnership with Champions Radio will also include a weekly on-air interview during The Morning Drive show as well as multiple on-air promotions of upcoming Stony Brook Athletics events scheduled to air on the station.

Stony Brook football and men’s basketball are two of the department’s most successful programs. The football team has captured four consecutive Big South championships and is now a member of CAA Football, the premier conference in the Football Championship Subdivision that has delivered four of the last 10 national champions. The men’s basketball team has captured three of the last four America East regular season championships and is coming off the most successful season in program history, winning 25 games and advancing to the second round of the postseason NIT.
